Five Star Production (Thailand)

Background: Five Star Production Co. Ltd. (Thai: ไฟว์สตาร์ โปรดักชั่น) was one of the first major Thai film production companies, founded in 1973 by Kiat Lamphungphorn and is today headed by his younger brother, Charoen Lamphungporn, and Kiat's children. Its first film was The War Lord and has since grew popular and major with its (now) infamous Tears of the Black Tiger, which apparently tells a story about a monk's early adult life as a generous thief.

(1975-1978)

Nickname: "The Five Star"

Logo: On a black background, there are five white stars with a green-yellow gradient sits there along with Five Star's Thai name and all zooming in, all on the black background.

Trivia: This is the very first logo of the company. As it doesn't feature the globe, this is the early stage of the logo.

FX/SFX: Likely just zooming.

Cheesy Factor: It's boring, but it's acceptable for the time, seeing that they have no animation skills and knowledge of other logos.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extinct.

Scare Factor: None to medium. The black background with the still image and no music can give some the creeps.

(1977-1978)

Nickname: "The Five Star II"

Logo: On a space background, the five white stars with a yellow-blue star fading in, and globe fades in and the Thai name fade in, then text "Five Star Production" laser drawing to the point.

FX/SFX: None, just fading in.

Chessy Factor: It's boring, but the great logo.

Music/Sounds: Trumpet distant fanfare.

Availability: Rare. Can be seen on Thai movies like Louie.

Scare Factor: Minimal to medium. That fanfare is boring actually.

(1978-1992)

Nickname: "Five Star in the Globe"

Logo: On a space background, TBA

FX/SFX: Shining stars and globe.

Chessy Factor: TBA

Music/Sounds: Drum roll and triumphant fanfare, then zaps and then distant fanfare.

Availability: Rare and extinct.

Scare Factor: Low to high.
