Logo: This is like the TV logo, except the grass is higher, without a voice at the end of the logo. In a box containing fog and some grass, which is situated against a black BG, the camera zooms through the grass field. Suddenly, a silhouette of a robot sneaks across off to the right, and to the left, and the robot, which is now redone in CGI and revealed to have a shaded red color and a curved rectangular shaped head, appears in front of us with a body covered by a grass. Then the robot turns into a 2-D drawing when the body appears, and "BAD ROBOT" in the same font as the TV logo, fades in below the box.
Variant:
- Staring with Super 8, the sky is more realistic with the brownish tint and the robot is rendered smoother.
- Starting with Star Trek Into Darkness, it's the same as the Super 8 variation except the box zooms in after the robot appears the robot turns 2D then the sky turns 2D and the text appears and the robot blinks.
FX/SFX: The robot moving and the turning into a 2-D drawing.
Music/Sounds: The opening theme of the movie or silence, like in Cloverfield. At the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it uses an extended version of its TV counterpart's theme.
Availability: Current. Seen on Cloverfield, Morning Glory, Star Trek, Super 8 and Mission Impossible Ghost Prodical. The 3D variation is brand new and is seen on newer films like Star Trek Into Darkness, 10 Cloverfield Lane and at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One. Scare Factor: Low. The appearance of the CGI robot may put off a few.
